One of only two known Stainer instruments that have been preserved in their original form served as the model. The spruce top comes from local stock in the Totes Gebirge in Styria, Austria. The back and ribs were made from the same piece of wood, while the selection of wood for the neck was harmoniously matched to the body. The connection between the neck and body follows the traditional Baroque construction method and is secured with a nail.
